I have left you with the stop of my high-level athlete career, in August, and my departure to Japan. Since then, if I don’t follow the same training rythm as before (I ride between 5 and 10 hours a week, whereas I used to ride about 20, up to 30 weekly hours for the last 5 years), you may have noticed that I have not abandoned it nonetheless. I have lost nor my level of demand, nor my racer spirit, barely kept my former level, but I do not practise the same sport as I used to. From now on, I am free of any race, any contract and any performance requirement. I take the time of looking elsewhere.
I went forward into an other race, without opponent nor finish line : the world exploration. My will is to observe, to think, to understand. Cycling is a great way to achieve it. Thus, sometimes, I will leave for two days, three days, one wee with nothing but a bike, a backpack and a pair of eyes. From these journeys, I want to pass down stories, share images, stir up thoughs that will have the human being and his way of living all around the world as the heart of the matter. At a greater scale, I see this period of my life that may last one, three, maybe ten years, as an initiatory voyage, as a quest for trust and knowledge that nor studies, nor sport can provide me. I have never tried to conceal that my goal was not to become a professionnal cyclist, but a writer. There is no diploma for this purpose. In order to have something to tell, I reckon that having lived it by oneself is necessary. After my graduation in Japan, next summer, I will get freedom of movements.
Such a project can not be fulfiled alone. Aside me, I will take several players. Firstly, i will work along with the cycling clothing brand Café du Cycliste, with who I share the taste of travelling and this excentric position in our respective universes. Café du Cycliste is an internationally-oriented French company settled on the Côte d’Azur, in southern France, and its sober, classy and avant-gardist line clashes with the great manufacturers tradition. Just as me, they represent France all around the world. This partnership goes along with my will of making the cycling image evolve among people, and to bring it back closer to its essence. I will also work along with several medias, but especially with you, through this blog, that will remain the pillar of the project. I count on your support, and I hope that you will find pleasure by boarding with me in such an adventure !
