神坂峠 (Misaka Pass), Gifu-ken, Japan
神坂峠 literally means “God Climb Pass” and really has got the atmosphere. It is the former road between Nakatsugawa and Iida, before the Nagoya express road was built under the mountain, in a 10km road tunnel. One of his sides is no more exploited and the road disappears, or crosses some torrents at times. The summit, up to 1650m, displays an incredible view upon the whole Kiso valley. Gods were not charitable to us this time though, because the dark and heavy clouds in the background turned into a cold rain later on the following summit.
