秩父 (Chichibu), Saitama-ken, Japan
Chichibu is a (pretty) big city of 70 000 inhabitants in the most western part of the Saitama prefecture, and is separated from Tokyo by a big range of mountains, the Okuchichibu mountains, which means that some nasty passes obviously spice the way to go… But makes it quite spectacular with some altitude, up on the Chichibu city and valley. The big lap from the metropolis is definitely worth it.
