風張林道 (Kazahari Forest Road), Okutama, Japan

The Kazahari Pass has got three sides. Two of them are one the main road, and rises up on a regular asphalt, reaching its top around 1200m high. The third one is hidden by a big iron gate, and is only accessible for cars from the eastern valley. And this one is probably the hardest climb in the Tokyo area. It climbs up 614m in 5,3km, meaning a 11,5% average. But in the last kilometer, a very impressive view down the cliff awaits the audacious climber…
